Soon those students moved on to being students of life in the real word. Graduations came and went, some moved across the country, full time jobs bogged down each day, and life became much more than it was before. Still, one thing remained: a love for the written word.
Out of this love, borrowed solace was born. Made up of members of the Writer’s Guild and maintained despite the distance, new jobs, and bits of life that got in the way. Soon our inbox was overflowing, the website was receiving more and more hits, and so many talented writers submitted that there wasn’t near enough room in the meager pages of our journal to feature them all. borrowed solace was becoming–going through growth spurts and the growing pains that came along with change.
So thank for stopping by and being a part of our story. We are excited to be on this process of becoming. This community welcomes anyone and everyone who embodies a love for the written word in their life. That is the ground on which we stand.
“I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it until it begins to shine.” -Emily Dickinson
borrowed solace is published twice yearly and includes creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and art. Since the beginning, we at borrowed solace have committed to reading each and every submission and letting the words of both established and emerging writers spew forth into the world.
